June gathering

The 8th Ragamuffin Cooking Club gathering is hereby announced!! This will be a laid-back outdoor (weather permitting) cookout, complete with grilling tips and techniques so everyone can become grill masters!

Theme: Grill fest

Date & Time: Tuesday, June 13th Thursday, June 15th, 6:30pm

Place: Chad & Karen's

We need signups for the following:

• Main dish - Everyone bring your own piece of chicken or steak to grill. Chad and Karen will provide rubs, marinades and some other ways to dress up the meats.
  
• Fruit Side dish 1 - (I've heard a rumor Heidi has a good one...) Kristi
  
• Veggie Side dish 2 - 2 dishes - Heidi and Rejane
  
• Dessert - Jill
  
• Wine / cocktails - Phil & Rose (not sure which kind they're bringing)
  
• Non-alcoholic drinks - Phil & Rose? (not sure which kind of drink they're bringing, otherwise Chad & Karen can cover this one)
  
• Cups & Plates - Michael & Toni

Ya'll had som' simply DE-lish Southern cooking!

The May cooking club meeting was a grand time! The theme was Country Cooking and we had plenty of carbs to make it taste like a real Southern event! Although we lacked the expected fried chicken that Southerners always enjoy, we had plenty of food to go around, including:

• Garlic smashed potatoes from Heidi
  
• Fried okra from Heidi
  
• Corn pudding from Toni & Michael (send us the recipe!)
  
• Salad with a Creamy Mustard Dressing from Phil & Rose
  
• Mashed potato casserole from Rejane (send us the recipe for that one!)
  
• Corn muffins from Rejane
  
• Strawberry shortcakes from Rejane
  
• Sweet potato pie from Kristi

I also made sure that plenty of sweet iced tea was on hand... yum!

Thanks to Rejane for hosting! I think everyone had a great time, and we got to meet the adorable Miss Ruby!! Photos to come soon... just wait!!
