October gathering
Welcome to a few new members who we hope to see this month - Katie & Jeremy and Amanda! Perhaps more are on the way. :)
Theme: Carribean (the most classic fusion cuisine I can think of)
Date & Time: Saturday, October 20 at 6:30pm
Place: Chad & Karen's
We need signups for the following:
- Appetizer / Soup / Salad -
- Main Dish 1 -
- Main Dish 2 (if all other dishes are taken) -
- Side Dish 1 -
- Side Dish 2 -
- Wine / cocktail -
- Non-alc. drinks -
- Dessert -
For a bit of background, Carribean food is a fusion of the many ethnic influences to the island countries. Cuban food or Jamacian food is a great place to start. However, there are also african and asian elements that find their way into the cuisine.
Some delicious-looking Carribean recipes were one of the vegetarian features in this month's Cooking Light. You can find those recipes and more at MyRecipes (I've entered the "carribean" search into the link so only those recipes will appear).
6 Comments:
We can make the main dish! It will likely be Jamaican Jerk chicken or a dish involving chicken and possibly plantains...

I wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you for the steady invite to the cooking club. I had a great time and I hope there are no hard feelings for my Iron Chef judjing! I promise I am only that critical when competition is involved. For the October Caribbean
gathering I would like to do a dessert if that is alright with everyone. Thank you all again and see you soon.

Sweet! Now that the side dish has been (finally) taken, I can bring another main dish! Bwah-ha-ha-ha!
It will be something non-chicken, perhaps ropa vieja, perhaps a veg. dish.
